This calculator is to be used as a guide only. The assumptions made in developing
the calculator are as follows:
- The calculator initially uses an investment rate of 6.25% pa. This is a
standard rate currently prescribed by the Australian
Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) for use when calculating
returns for a typical Balanced
investment option.
- Default inflation (CPI) rate of 3% p.a.
- Default salary inflation rate of 4% p.a.
- An administration fee of $1.00 per week is deducted and indexed at CPI.
- A death and disability premium of $0.50 is deducted weekly based on 1 unit
of insurance cover.
- Employer Superannuation Guarantee contributions are set at 9% and are subject
to 15% contributions tax.
- Salary Sacrifice contributions are subject to 15% contributions tax.
- Member salary is greater than $450 per month.
- No allowance has been made for superannuation surcharge or other taxes (including
tax on retirement income).
- The account balance is calculated at today's dollar terms according to the
CPI rate.
- Total superannuation benefits are assumed to be paid as a lump sum, and
does not account for Reasonable Benefit Limits.

- In preparing this accumulation superannuation calculator, the investment
objectives, financial situation and needs of any particular person were not
taken into account. Before making an investment decision on the basis of the
results of this calculator, you need to consider, with or without the assistance
of a financial planner, whether the advice is appropriate in light of your
particular investment needs, objectives and financial circumstances.
- The figures are based on the above assumptions and are GENERAL ILLUSTRATIONS
ONLY. They are not intended to be a substitute for professional financial
advice.
- The projection result is NOT GUARANTEED in any way. The actual performance
of investments will depend on future economic conditions, investment management
and future taxation.
- This calculator compounds interest on a half-yearly basis.
- Remember, your expected investment return will vary depending on your member
investment choice option.
- Check out the results on the graph. The difference between expected investment
returns (%), say between two of the member investment choice options, can
make a huge difference to your overall retirement savings plan over the long
term. Putting more into your superannuation can also make a big difference
to your overall retirement savings.
